Of course one must not forget the autumn colour of Maples, Oaks, and Ashes or the miniature hedge created by Buxus. Whether it's on the farm or in the garden there is something for everyone!

Abies fraserii

Fraser’s Fir. Known for it’s use as a Christmas tree. Grows to about 10m

Abies grandis

Grand Fir grows to about 40-50m high and has dark green foliage with a tangerine smell when crushed or bruised.

Abies procera

This evergreen ‘Noble Fir’ has stiff branches with blue-green 25mm needles and grows to about 30m.

Acacia dealbata

Silver Wattle - Small tree up to 12 metres. Excellent shelter belt and firewood tree. Hardy. 

Acacia melanoxylon

Blackwood - Suitable as shelter tree but grown mainly for the beauty of it’s timber. Moderately hardy. 30 x 15m

Amur Maple – Orange to Red autumn colour.

Also known as Acer monspessulanum this maple grows to about 6-10m and has small leathery dark green leaves that turn yellow.

Choisya ternata

Known as Box Honeysuckle this shrub is a low grower that reaches about 3 x 3m. It is very adaptable in most locations.

Phebalium squameum

A native lancewood to Tasmania this tree has leathery leaves and flowers in spring. It is a good narrow shelter tree that can be used for hedging and grows upwards of 5m tall.

Portugese Laurel - Very hardy large shrub to 6m. Glossy foliage. Suitable for hedging and low shelter.

Turkey Oak - Large deciduous tree withstanding dryer conditions.

Quercus coccinea

Scarlet Oak - Beautiful scarlet autumn foliage.

Quercus palustris

Pin Oak - Large tree requiring moist site to grow its best. Good autumn colour. Note: The PB40 grade are large, sturdy trees, 3m high.

Quercus robur

Common Oak - Large specimen tree often planted for commemoration or special occasions. Hardy. 

Quercus robur fastigata

Upright English Oak. This selected variety of English Oak grows more upright then it’s parent plant. It grows upwards of 10m tall but only around 3m wide.

Quercus rubra

Red Oak - Larger leaf and very red autumn colour.

Rosemary 'Lockwood de Forest'

Another variety of Rosemary however this plant droops and is a very good ground cover option especially when flowering.

Rosmarinus

This of course is the herb Rosemary used in cooking for its strong fragrance and taste. It also produces attractive blue-purple flowers.

Sequoiadendron giganteum

Hardy,very large tree with tapered trunk. Good shelter performing well on gravels. Excellent specimen tree. 

Sorbus aria

This is a compact round headed tree with greyish leaves when young that soon develop into a green colour. Grows to about 5 x 4m

Chinese Rowan - Strong growing, small, deciduous tree. Fruits white, flushed with pink. Glorious vibrant red autumn colour. 

Taxodium distichum

Swamp Cypress - Large deciduous conifer suited to wet conditions. Russet autumn colour.

Taxus baccata aurea

Golden Yew. A good hedging option with variegated yellow/dark green foliage and bright red berries. 3 x 2m

Teucrium fruticans

Shrubby Germander - Hardy shrub to 2m. Good bee fodder. Grey foliage and blue flowers – good for clipping. Ready in spring. 

Thuja 'Old Gold'

Old Gold - Ornamental form. Gold colouring and vigorous.

A good shelter species due to its low dense branch habit and it can grow to about 25m.

Viburnum 'Eve Price'

Very hardy dense evergreen that is a good option for shelter or hedging. White flowers from late autumn to early spring followed by blue berries lasting through summer. 2 x 1.5m

Viburnum burkewoodii

A bush that needs to be mature to be fully appreciated. This Viburnum’s flower has a beautiful fragrance and while the young growth is straggly it quickly develops into a great bush for the garden.

Viburnum opulus sterile

This Viburnum is known for its great flower display in spring as well as its maple-like deep green leaves which improve in the cooler months. 3 x 2m

Viburnum tinus

Hardy shrub to 3m. Tolerates wide range of conditions. Masses of white flowers. Good low shelter and for clipping into a neat hedge.
