Now we didn’t plan all this together but May will be the last month good ole Mr Ian Davies will be working with us. He has decided to retire and spent more time looking after his lifestyle/forest block and travelling to see both family and numerous wonders of the world!
He would be looking at 50 years in the industry soon and that’s got to be an indicator of good dedication and green fingers. A large chunk of his working life was spent as 2IC at Herbert forest and that’s a good source for some interesting stories. Then he started working with Ford’s in the early eighties and has been with involved with that nursery (both Ford’s & Oregon) ever since barring a couple volunteer stints in Tanzania (again another source for a different point of view on the world.)
Personally I have found him to be a very interesting man who you should listen too if you have the chance. It is rare to leave a conversation without learning something (usually useful and important.) He is also a very funny man who will be greatly missed.
We wish him all the best as he is one of a kind, a dying breed of forest rangers & nurseryman extraordinaire.
